COMPANY F Record of events.
On the 15th under command of Major Foster about 500 strong marched about
30 miles to a little town called Lone Jack and there engaged
a force of rebels some 4 or 5 thousand strong. The
engagement lasted 4 hours when order was given to return. Loss of Federals about
51 killed and a number wounded. The rebels lost over one hundred killed
– wounded not known.
Company H Record of events.
On the morning of the 15th in connections with some five to seven
hundred under the command of Major Foster we marched in a
southwesterly direction until we arrived at
Lone Jack, and engaged the rebel pickets about 9 PM. The rebels fled. We camped in Lone Jack.
On the morning of the 16th we engaged the rebels some fifteen to thirty
hundred after 3 ½ hours returned to Lexington.
